A Child's World of Shape and Space
What a useful workshop we had with Lynne using ideas taken from her user friendly, charming book "Maths Play". Her method of presenting children with the stimulation and opportunities needed to encourage thinking and logic, is fundamental to helping students develop a love of maths. This workshop is great, even for teachers who are long in the tooth like me! Our teachers really enjoyed the touchy-feely approach to the workshop, using her inexpensive box of everyday goodies helped us to get inside the minds and hands of the students we teach. No expensive equipment is needed to present young children with her ways of exploring mathematical concepts. Therefore none of us could wait to begin making our own resources after the workshop. The "Maths Play" book is a perfect and vital publication in my opinion, needed to revise and learn so much more about this innovative way of working with children. I treasure my own copy and have even bought one for my son to use with our grand daughter! It is a great book for either parent or teacher.
Thank you Lynne, we look forward to your next visit to Dubai Gem Private School for more fantastic ideas. Hurry back, please.

GEMS Early Years
Lynne guided us on how to use everyday resources creatively to allow the children in the Early Years to investigate and explore in a natural play based environment. The structure of the workshop featured practical team learning, discussion as well as time to reflect on our current practice. The teachers now feel inspired to upcycle everything into a new mathematical resource to use with their class in a fun and engaging way. Thank you for your refreshing, low cost but high impact ideas!

Lynne Vowles – One Magnificient Mosque
Lynne visited Horizon School to present her book “One Magnificient Mosque” to our Foundation Stage and Year 2 Classes.
She was very professional and the children thoroughly enjoyed the inter-active presentation she delivered. It’s a lovely book with great illustrations which are prevalent to the UAE.

Collegiate American School
We were excited to welcome Lynne Vowles to Collegiate American School in Dubai this year. Her beautifully illustrated book was the highlight of an exciting author visit. Our Kindergarten students loved the cultural connection to Dubai that One Magnificent Mosque gave them during the reading. Relating the date filled palm trees in their own neighborhood to the seven proud palms in the book was just one of the ways Ms. Vowles brought this bilingual counting book to life. The rich illustrations prompt the readers to let their imaginations soar like fabulous falcons. Many of our students are new to the Middle East and to the Arabic language . They enjoyed Ms. Vowles’ personal touch in sharing some of the local sights in such a relatable way. Having so many aspects of region’s heritage colorfully displayed makes this a special addition to the home or school library.
